Also for the HRT Formula 1 Team, which has achieved its main objective of having the two F112s cross the finish line in front of all the local fans. But general satisfaction also for the reliability of the cars as well as for the performance of their drivers.
De la Rosa, who started from 21st position, has finally climbed 6 positions to finish the race 17th place.
The Spanish rider has provided a show for the fans and has had a nice fight with his rivals until his tires said enough. Narain Karthikeyan, also with a two-stop strategy, has made a constant race, with good rhythm, and planted battle with his rivals but was penalized with a drive-through for exceeding the allowed speed in one of his pit stops.
The HRT driver has shown pride in his personal performance and that of the car, as well as the results obtained by the team in Valencia: "The truth is that in this race I have given everything, I have emptied myself, and I am satisfied. It was a very long race and towards the end, in the middle of the fight, I ran out of rear tires and I just had to keep holding on until I finished. In fact, I have left over the last seven laps. It was the classic survival race in which the cars with the most degradation take the worst part, but we already knew beforehand that it was going to be tough. But the best thing is that we have maintained a good pace and we have managed the brakes well so that they held. Maybe I should have been a bit more conservative when Pic was behind me but I preferred to take risks. If the tires held, fine, and if not, too. I am satisfied because we have done well this weekend in front of our fans. They deserve the best and I think they see that we fight in every race and we are improving, so I can only thank them for their support ”.
Carlos Sainz and Kevin Magnussen replaced their gearboxes after qualifying on Saturday, so this Sunday it was confirmed that both have been sanctioned with five positions on the starting grid for the Baku race, which starts at 15:00 hours.

Sainz (Toro Ross) finished the qualifying session outside of Q3 and in 13th place, while Magnussen finished 21st, only better than his teammate Palmer. The Dane will start from the pitlane, after his team has decided to make some changes to the suspension configuration of his car.
Sainz had already targeted the brakes as a result of his poor qualification, and this morning, before the Movistar F1 microphones in the preview of the European GP, he issued a warning: "You still get bad news before the race …".
The FIA has made official the grid sanctions shortly after, and the young Madrid driver will be forced to come back from 18th starting position, so it is not ruled out that he will change his strategy and go to two stops.
The Spanish Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) achieved an epic victory in Valencia, in the European Grand Prix, in a perfect race, both for his outstanding driving and for the conditions that arose from a race totally favorable to the double World Champion.

On the sidelines of a comeback from eleventh position with brilliant overtaking in the race, Alonso saw how the Red Bull of German Sebastian Vettel – who started first – fainted when he was leader of the race, and the British Lewis Hamilton – who started second – said goodbye on the run on the last lap after a collision.
Thus, Alonso not only added the maximum possible points (25), but he also saw how his greatest rivals in the fight for the title were left at zero, when everything seemed to indicate at the beginning that both were going to mark differences with respect to the Asturian.
At the start, Alonso moved forward three places on the first lap and began to have a frantic pace. After his first wheel change, on lap 15, the Spaniard remained intractable and overtook Australian Mark Webber (Red Bull) and Brazilian Bruno Senna (Williams) on the track.
But the key to the race came on lap 30, when a collision between Finn Heikki Kovalainen (Caterham) and Frenchman Jean Eric Vergne (Toro Rosso) forced the safety car out. At that moment Hamilton and Alonso entered the pits, and while in the Ferrari garage everything went perfectly in the McLaren garage, a delay in changing the wheels gave the Spaniard an advantage.
This action in the pits left Alonso third, behind Vettel and Frenchman Romain Grosjean (Lotus) still with the safety car on the track, although a new brilliant action from the Asturian would leave him in even better condition.
At the restart Alonso launched a fierce attack on Grosjean and snatched second position from him, despite the Lotus being the fastest car of the weekend. This higher speed of the French car made it become the shadow of the Spanish.
Alonso’s superb driving had more rewards after the restart of the race, as a few laps later came the big surprise. Vettel was forced to leave when, before the appearance of the safety car, everything seemed destined for a tyrannical victory for the German similar to those of last season.
With the disappearance of Vettel from the streets of the Port of Valencia, Alonso began to lead the race, with the aim of making Grosjean disappear from his wake, as it happened, since in full pursuit another breakdown eliminated the Frenchman from the race.
From that moment, Hamilton remained the main threat to Alonso, but the Asturian established a margin of separation between three and four seconds with respect to the British, who was more concerned with controlling the Lotus of the Finn Kimi Raikkonen than anything else, already that between the two there was less than a second of difference.
With Alonso launched for the victory, Raikkonen was able to overcome Hamilton in the last laps, who saw how in the last lap of the test the Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado (Williams) impacted with him and left him out when both fought for the third place that at that time he was speaking English.
This action made the result of the race the best possible for Alonso, with as many points as possible and without his two main rivals for the World Cup adding a single point.
In addition, the only appearance of the safety car in the Valencia race brought with it other important consequences, such as the third place of the German Michael Schumacher, who starting from twelfth place again stepped on the podium for the first time in his return to the F -1 three seasons ago.
In the case of Maldonado, his career was a roller coaster of sensations, as a bad start relegated him to fifth position after starting third and although on the last lap he fought with Hamilton for the third step of the podium, he finally entered the tenth position by the collision with the British. For this action, Maldonado will be sanctioned with ten places on the grid for the next race.
In addition, Japanese Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber) was also penalized five places at the British Grand Prix for dangerous action.
It was also a good day for the Spanish Pedro Martínez de la Rosa and HRT, who achieved their goal, as the two cars finished the race and the Catalan did it ahead of his partner, the Indian Narain Karthikeyan.
"It’s my best win. Emotionally there is nothing comparable", assured the Spaniard, who cried on the podium and whose voice broke during the press conference."I don’t really know what to say in these moments of emotion"said the Ferrari driver, who climbed from eleventh on the grid to victory.

"I had the memory of winning in Barcelona in 2006 (with Renault). But doing it here, with Ferrari, at home, with all the Spanish flags in the stands and coinciding with the Eurocup, which is a time when we all feel more Spanish, is something you always dream of.".
"Thank you all and enjoy this moment as much as I and the team will."added the two-time world champion."Today we had an amazing race. I remember six or seven overtaking in which we were very close, we touched with other cars. In those moments, you can end up on the wall or end up winning the race"he explained.
"When I was third I thought, ‘Wow, I wish I could see the checkered flag now and enjoy this podium.’
